Christmas Lights Wholesale Prices shows what each part of a Christmas light install costs at the unit level. Reading the pricing table

The pricing table below lists each item at its pack and case size, the price of each, and the price per unit for both. Where the case is lower per unit, the table shows by how much. C9 installation kits are listed by length and spacing with the total price and the cost per foot. A 1,000 ft. run built from a socket spool, bulb cases, an O-clip case and plug packs is priced next to the matching kit, so the kit and parts routes can be compared on the same run.

Options and colors

Some items are listed with options, such as bulb color, lens style or the clip mix in a kit, and some options are priced differently from others. The pricing table uses the least expensive listed option for each product, and the product page shows the price of every option before it goes in the cart. When comparing per-unit prices across products, compare the same color and style on each.

How to read a wholesale price

A wholesale price list has three numbers for most items: the pack price, the case price, and the price per unit. Only the last one compares cleanly across products and quantities, and only if you know what the unit is. Here's how to read each line, and how to turn unit prices into the figure that matters on a job: the cost per lit foot.

Find the unit

Every line divides by a different thing. C9 bulbs are priced per bulb, mini lights per 50-light strand, clips and tabs per clip, plugs per plug, stakes per stake, timers per timer. C9 installation kits are priced per foot of run, because a kit is a complete run rather than a count of parts. Before comparing two numbers, check that they share a unit.

Example: a 25-pack of LED C9 bulbs is $19.95, which is $0.798 per bulb. A 500-bulb case is $319, which is $0.638 per bulb. The case price is 16 times the pack price but holds 20 times the bulbs, and that gap is where the per-unit difference comes from.

Read past the third decimal

Parts under a dollar are shown to three decimals. On a clip, a tenth of a cent looks like nothing, but a 2,000 ft. job at 12 in. spacing uses 2,000 clips plus spares, so every tenth of a cent per clip is about $2 on the job. For low-cost parts, multiply the unit price by the job count before deciding whether the difference matters.

Compare like with like

Products that look interchangeable on a price list often aren't. Standard and Minleon C9 bulbs are both LED C9s on E17 bases, but they're separate lines with their own prices ($0.638 and $0.798 per bulb by the case). Compare each against its own pack and case, and pick the bulb line first, then the quantity.

From unit price to cost per lit foot

A roofline is bought by the foot, so the useful number is what one lit foot costs. Build it from the unit prices:

1. Per socket: one bulb plus one clip. At case prices that's $0.638 + $0.228 = $0.866 per socket.
2. Per foot at 12 in. spacing: one socket per foot, so $0.866 per foot before wire.
3. Per foot at 15 in. spacing: 0.8 sockets per foot, so $0.693 per foot before wire.
4. Add the wire and plugs: socket wire is priced per spool, so divide by 1,000 for the per-foot cost, then add a male and female plug per run divided by the run length.

A kit does this math for you. The 1,000 ft. kit at 12 in. spacing is $1,605.10, or $1.61 per foot including wire, bulbs, plugs and clips. Comparing the kit's per-foot figure to your parts-built figure shows what the kit's packaging and pre-matched parts cost or save on that run.

Prices for strands and accessories

Mini light strands are easier to read as per light or per foot of tree. A 6 in. strand at $10.83 by the case is $0.217 per light; at two strands per foot of tree height, that's $21.67 per foot of tree. Timers are per circuit, not per foot: $11 each, or $10.75 each in a 4-case.
